New legislation on mental health police records welcome, says CMHA Ontario

(Wednesday, June 3, 2015) – Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Ontario welcomes today’s introduction of the Police Record Checks Reform Act (PRCRA) by the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, the Honourable Yasir Naqvi. There will soon be stricter limits on what police record checks can disclose in Ontario.
Congratulations to CMHA Ottawa staffer Christine Gagné for her contribution to efforts in recent months to bring about changes on police record checks, which often limited employment, volunteer and education opportunities for people with lived experience.
