CMHA Ottawa available to comment on crisis prevention on World Suicide Prevention Day

On Friday, Sept. 9, Renee Ouimet, Director, Capacity Building and Education, Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Ottawa, will be available to speak to the media about strategies to help reduce the risk of suicide and services available to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in the local community. The media availability coincides with the Ottawa observance of World Suicide Prevention Day, a global initiative aimed at increasing awareness and breaking the silence about suicide. Ottawa’s event is sponsored by the Ottawa Suicide Prevention Coalition (OSPC), a free breakfast presentation.

The increased profile of suicide prevention created by World Suicide Prevention Day also gives CMHA an opportunity to share information about the expertise, services and programs it provides in communities across Ontario who may be experiencing a mental health issue or illness.
“World Suicide Prevention Day is a day to remember those we have lost by suicide and work tirelessly towards suicide prevention,” said Renee Ouimet.
