COVID-19 UPDATE
Due to the COVID pandemic and the CMHA Ottawa protocols, the Mental Health Works program can be offered through a virtual Zoom training environment as an alternative delivery method. Please note if you are requesting a training session for your organization or team, each participant will require access to a computer with sound and video. At this time we will only be offering the Essentials (1-1.5 hours) or a Half Day program (3 hours, 2 modules of your choice).

About the Course
Mental Health Works is a nationally available program of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Division, that builds capacity within organizations to effectively address the many issues related to mental health in the workplace.
Learning Objectives

A psychologically healthy work environment supports employee engagement, worker health and well-being, recruitment and retention, productivity, effective risk management and corporate social responsibility. Everyone in the workplace, at all levels, positions and roles can benefit from raised awareness and deepened understanding of the issues to build capacity for creating a psychologically healthy and safe workplace.
Target Audience
- Senior, middle management, union representatives HR personnel, employees/colleagues
- Supervisors and managers play a pivotal role in employee success. MHW can assist with increasing their capacity by offering workshops to equip with the awareness, understanding and tools they need to have effective conversations when employees are struggling.
- MHW also offers workshops for employees to assist then in understanding their own mental health concerns, those of their colleagues and how to get support.

Duration, time and cost will vary depending on the type of Mental Health Works program you choose for your group or organization. This information will be determined during the training request stage.

Our award-winning multimedia presentations range from 1-1.5 hours to full-day interactive sessions with exercises and group discussion. MHW Essentials: 1 – 1.5 Hour Presentation (up to 20 people)

MHW – Half-Day Workshop Option (up to 20 people)
This workshop will be a 3 hour session with a break mid-way for 10-15 minutes. Please choose TWO of the topics from the Essentials list above.
MHW Core – full-day workshop (up to 20 people) **Please note we are currently not offering the full day due to COVID and Zoom Fatigue
This workshop is 7.5 hours, including a 60 minute lunch break and two 15 minute breaks (AM/PM). The available sessions are broken out below.
- Mental health in the workplace (Workplace & mental health, Mood & depression, Stress & anxiety, Psychological health & safety)
- Return to the workplace (Health anxiety, Isolation & loneliness, Mindfulness at work, Mental health & telework)
- First responders (Workplace & mental health, Post-traumatic stress disorder & operational stress injury, Traumatic stress & compassion fatigue, Mindfulness at work)
- Frontline health care workers (Mental health for frontline staff, Mental health for telehealth)
