 CMHA Ottawa offers training programs for professionals, employers, educational institutions and the general public who work with or care for persons living with a mental illness. Workshops are offered on the dates and at the cost indicated.

We are always happy to discuss your training needs and adapt our training programs, scheduling and fees on an individual basis as needed. You must register online at under training. If you cannot register online or want to confirm your registration and check availability, please 1355 Bank Street, 4th Floor, Suite 402. The building is south of Riverside Drive, opposite Billings Bridge our office at 613-737-7791. Please note that registration must be received one week prior to the workshop dates.

Limited meter parking is available for a maximum of $8.00 per day, payable by coin or credit card.

Cancellations and refunds
Full refunds, less a $20.00 administration fee, will be given when a written request is received two weeks prior to the date of workshop. Registration may be transferred to another person. There will be a $25.00 charge on all returned cheques.

(Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). The standard training experience for suicide prevention in our community, presented in collaboration with LivingWorks. (2 days)

Integrated Treatment for Concurrent Disorders

An interactive training program for professionals who work with people with co-occurring mental illness and substance use. (3 days)

Intensive Case Management Training

This training program is designed to help front line workers better understand the context, roles and functions of intensive case management within our current mental health system. (3 days)

Living Life to the Full (LLTTF)

Living Life to the Full (LLTTF) is an interactive course designed to help individuals deal more effectively with everyday life challenges.

Mental Health Works
Motivational Interviewing

Introductory and more advanced interactive workshops teaching the principles, skills and methods of Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help individuals move towards positive changes. Develop the spirit and practice of MI designed to explore and resolve ambivalence to change. We offer 2 day Introductory or 4-day Advanced Workshops)

Myths and Realities of Mental Illness

An interactive workshop for frontline workers and community members. Provides the knowledge necessary to recognize behaviours associated with mental illness, recovery concepts and community resources. (1 day)


A workshop for the community that prepares participants to identify and engage people with thoughts of suicide and connect them with further help and care. (3.5 hours)

Understanding the Unspoken Pain

An awareness workshop on providing initial assistance to survivors of war trauma and torture.
