CMHA National Conference 2019

The 4th annual Mental Health For All Conference (MH4A) runs from September 23-25, 2019 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto’s revitalized Harbourfront. The theme is Connection interrupted: Restoring mental health in a fractured world.

What is the MH4A Conference? This is the 4th annual Mental Health For All Conference. It has become the largest community mental health gathering in Canada. Through over 80 talks, panels and workshops over three days, sessions will include best practices, recent research, inspiring stories and innovative programs that will help ease distress today and shore up mental health for the world to come.

Who will be there?
A gathering of the best minds – and hearts – in community mental health, the MH4A Conference is an invitation to see our fractured world with new eyes in the face of social, environmental and geopolitical turmoil. The conference is an important place of connection for health care providers, front-line workers, researchers, funders, policy makers and people with lived experience of mental health issues.

Why we are gathering This gathering is more than an opportunity to “network”. We are moving beyond professional networking toward the idea of “connecting” both for our work, and as human beings who share a deep concern about mental health. We are connecting in order to create and reimagine the kinds of schools, campuses, workplaces, communities and systems that will restore and improve mental health.

The theme is “Connection Interrupted”
In this increasingly technologically connected world, we are disconnected from the land, from family, from self, from community. There is a strong sense, worldwide, that mental health is eroding: according to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. Human connection and community bonds build the strength that makes us resilient.

The conference site
The venue is Westin Harbour Castle, situated in the revitalized Harbourfront, with its spectacular views of the city, the lake and the Islands, steps from major cultural and sports venues—including “Jurassic Park”, the CN Tower and the Aquarium, and a short walk or ride to Union Station and the City (“Billy Bishop”) Airport.

Key partners
We welcome back Lundbeck Canada, our Changemaker partner, now for its fourth year. The Mental Health Commission of Canada also returns as Cornerstone Partner.
